"Old Friend" I carry some images through my life, tweaking them now and again. It's a strange habit which has come about through many reasons such as insecurity, familiarity, comfort, self belief and continuation. This habit sets my foundation, the familiarity makes me comfortable with my own iconography and it affords me the confidence to explore new ideas. What it also does is outline the tenuous nature and relationships within ones thinking that expose and deconstruct the very nature of ones creative process. In one sense there is nothing to hold onto as you explore ideas beyond the work itself and no simplistic reassurance. "Old Friend" is a bold new print on canvas, as vibrant in the sunlight as it's mellow in the glow of the evening light. It's an aesthetic which explores the evolving possibilities of manual/digital expression. An artwork aimed at those who prefer something a little bit different and thought provoking for the wall. The image has gone through a series of exploratory developments and is part of a collection of work developed over the past thirty years. The print is on a 340gsm cotton matte, signed and stretched onto a 38mm deep wooden stretcher. It's ready to hang unframed sized 20" (51mm) x 26" (664mm). These prints will not be editions because I like to print one then maybe at some later date make changes to evolve my imagery and avoid repetition.
